This seminar is an introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a perfect art for self protection and defense. Whether on a first date or in the face of a stranger, get some practice in how to use effective physical resistance to unwanted contact and the threat of rape.

This seminar will give 13-18 year olds a platform to navigate unwanted physical contact. They will:

1. Rehearse how to communicate assertively under pressure.

2. Practice how to use effective physical resistance when verbal communication doesn't resolve a conflict that involves physical contact- basic escapes, ground fighting/Jiu Jitsu techniques.

3. Identify mental and emotional aspects of forceful resistance to attack.

Empowering oneself with this type of seminar has shown to increase confidence, reduce risk of future assault/rape, and aid in recovery from previous assault. Teacher and curriculum are trauma sensitive and informed. Although the content is serious, we will train in a manner that is playful, supportive, and informative.

A Jiu Jitsu mini camp for women. Want to have an extended training day? Getting ready for competition? Want to hang out with your Jiu Jitsu friends? Come join us on the mats. This replaces the usual monthly Ohio BJJ Riot Grrrls open mat and serves as a farewell to our friend and black belt, Jennifer Recinos, relocating to Japan. Rock, roll, and riot at this mat fest!

Calling all women interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: it's a fun and intense fitness practice, self defense, and a competitive sport. Get a sample and meet the team. Share some holiday cheer on the mats! Warm up, drill some techniques, Q&A.

This will be an informal seminar style open house. You can participate or watch. There is no fee, just bring yourself in to have fun and see why BJJ makes us so happy.

Wear comfortable workout clothes, preferably a long sleeve shirt and bottoms that cover your knees. Loaner Gis (uniform) will be available. No experience necessary, all ages and fitness levels welcome. Bring your mom, sister, daughter, friends.

All women and girls from all schools and affiliations are welcome to join in on the fun of rolling with many other women. There is no mat fee, just bring yourself and your gi and no gi gear. This event is a monthly collaborative open mat for women in the Ohio region. This time we are going to Relson Gracie in Willoughby.

The Girls in Gis official Ohio chapter is back in action. Ohio Combat Sports Academy is hosting, the line up of instructors includes black belts Roberta Samad and Kim Freeman. Prepare to have a great experience of Jiu Jitsu, sharing the mats with lots of girls and women in gis! All skill levels welcome, no experience required.
